For you serious drop shot fishers, what length drop shot rod do you use? I'm thinking 7 foot or longer. I'm 6'5" so most of my baitcasters are 7 or better, if that makes a difference.

Have you ever tried a medium fast ?
If so, what differences have you noticed?

I'm using a Kistler Helium medium fast, and wondering if I should change
to a medium light ??

I think this medium or medium light thing is more in how you personally play the fish. My drop shot rods are both medium and at times I wish I had a medium heavy so could control the fish more, but with tiny hooks that isn't always a good idea either.

I am 6'4, and one of my favorite rods I have ever fished is the NRX 822S DSR.

That is the rod I'm considering. I have a variety of their baitcasters and really like them.

Great rod no doubt!
The Dobyns 701 is a good one as well.
I use a Duckett 7' crankbait casting rod. Don't think I will ever switch. Best rod I found for me, and I tried out a bunch of them!!!! The NRX was next in line, but they don't make it in casting.
