The best practical jokes are ones you can get people to play on themselves.

Years ago, I had a girlfriend whose Mom was a big plant growing type. She had potted plants all over the place.
She was from Shreveport, and I thought she'd know better, but I asked her if she'd ever grown grits.

She hadn't, but asked about them.
I told her, "We all know, corn grows on a stalk, beans on vines, etc. Well,,,,,,,, Grits grow on a bush".

Days later she was at the nursery, and asked for a small grit bush. After the kid had to go to the manager,,,,
The manager told her where hominy, and then grits come from.

She failed to see the humor in it.
