Good idea bad idea?

This guy made some very vulgar comments in front of a lady coworker....stuff that even made me cringe a bit. He's a good worker but I think he needs to get a good talking too. What's the TFF's opinion?

I think at most large companies today you�re somewhat obligated to say something. You�d hate for her to complain and add that you were there and just let it happen.

I wouldn't want someone talking like that to my wife or daughter. BUT I for one am getting tired of the political correct about color of people skin or women at some point grow a set and getting thicker skin.

Yep would need to know the comments. Did the lady coworker seem offended? In general I'd lean towards not saying anything unless it really crossed a line.

Maybe talk to the lady? Tell her that if she decided to make a complaint, you would verify her account.

That way you aren't really in the middle of it, and it might give her the confidence to make the complaint if she's on the fence.

And also that way if she doesn't care, then the matter is resolved and you aren't a troublemaker so to speak.

Talk to the woman and see if she was offended. Tell her you�ll back her up if she wants to make a complaint. That�ll CYA with her.

Then tell the jerk he�s an azzhat and you don�t want to hear that carp again.

Send your self a secure/encrypted e-mail through the company e-mail. In it describe in detail what you saw and what you heard. That way you have a time stamped recollection.

Then go talk to the woman and get her side and find out what she plans on doing. After that conversation send yourself another secure e-mail detailing your conversation with her.

Now you have covered yourself pretty well if/when HR might get involved.

Would you be OK with her suing the company and getting a big settlement? Or would you rather save them the lawyers and court? It's up to you.She may let it go this time which may embolden him to step it up. My opinion is to stop it now.
