My last 3 boats have had Yamahas on back, and I've been religious on using ringfree (10:1 mix) in all of them. I am fixing to start running RedRanger's tournament boat, '99 Ranger 518 w/ Merc 200 EFI, before he hits the circuit and "GOES PRO". I was wondering what kind of fuel treatment/additive and mix that you would recommend. Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.

cheers Okie cheers

Don't worry Poke, it'll pop in a few trips and you can re power with a 200 SHO and you can freely use ring free!

You're welcome!

(pssst, gonna be in town this weekend, jerkbait bite on yet on grapevine?)

Engine wont know the difference between Yamaha Ring Free, Evinrude Carbon Guard, or Mercury Quickleen. They all are designed for the same purpose.

lol_2 Dude, I wish I knew. This year took me away from fishing. I've been one time since March. Fixing to jump back in in a big way. I bet it is, though, if you're in the right area. Happy Holidays to you!

I would have to get a second job to be able to afford a gallon of Ring Free for every 10 gallons of gas. :-) Cant even imagine what a gallon of Ring Free costs. But Mercury Quickcleen is a relatively cheap factory recommended additive. It calls for 1oz per 5 gallons of gas(1-12oz bottle treats 60 gallons of fuel). Easy: I buy the small 12oz bottles(easy to carry/store) and add 1/2 a bottle each time I fill up one of my dual 30 gallon tanks which is rarely more than 25 gallons of gas(a little more is always better, right?). I also add Stabile if Im not using my boat regularly and theres a good(or any) chance it will sit for months.

If he hasn't already done it I would think about removing oil pump and pre mixing on that engine.

You best be more worried about a rain suit than oil.
