There are folks in the world who should not be allowed to own pets or have kids. I adopted a basset hound almost 10 years ago from a shelter, and this week the wife and I adopted another. This time, the dog came from a home where the owner kept him chained outside and neglected of food and water. He was also physically abused and has a pretty nasty scar on his back. To no surprise, the dog had never been to a vet and had heart worms and other parasites. He is on medication and will undergo heartworm treatment in a few months. After that, we will also have him neutered. He fits in well with our Jack Russel and Basset Hound. Meet Luka.

I got 2 rescued basset hounds myself, one was beat and still very skiddish. I think the other one was starved to death. But they are in a much better place now
