Hey Guys just got back on my trip from Denison dam, the last two days. Caught a limit both day . Some real nice Stripers. My biggest fish went about 8lbs. Had to cut my trip short beacause of the storm, had a tree fall in my back yard. Didn't hit the house though. I would post pictures but camera got soaked I think its dead. Well got those tree branches up. Maybe going back there Sunday morining. If you want to catch fish there bring bucktail jigs and heavy penicil float. Just want help my brothers out and tell them where to go this weekend. It will be packed this weekend but the fish are there and lots and lots of them . I released about a dozen fish on both days. Just catching them for fun . Hope to see you there.

Were you on the Texas side? If so, how far down from the dam? I went down there yesterday thinking they were going to be generating, but when I got there, they had decided to change the schedule and cancel generation. No keeper size fish to be found. I think they might not even be generating this weekend so you want to make sure to check that out; call (903)465-1491 before you head out there.

I thought this was a joke because of the thumbs down symbol next the the post title. yakking on the river would be fun as long as its downstream. I guess I should dust off the ole surf poles huh? I love the feel of an 8lb striper with 45mph current.

I dug up some of my old fishing photos of striper fishing below the dam on the Texas wall. Day time, night time, we caught them whenever the discharge was right. The two bottom pictures are fish that were caught after dark.

You can tell it was all I could do to hold this stringer of fish up.

Here is a table full of fish. Lots of fun and great fish fries came from catching these fish.

Not to flood this posts but I personally love it when they just shutoff the dam at night, you wade onto the island that shows up and you throw stick rapalas and tear them up. you can also you cut shad under a cork.

quockie, put new line on your reels and make sure your drag is loose. There is nothing worse than to have one of the big ones hit your bait and lose it because the drag is too tight. If it is too loose, I can always tighten it a little while he strips line. I would rather do that than lose a $5 bait and the fish.

$5 bait
$5 wooden weighted cork
the feeling of losing the "big" one-priceless

There suppose to be generating from 11am to 6pm. But caught fish the down river from the dam. Was little current in the bend of the river. I got a reel that can cast about 90 yards. Dam my be pack. But I'm staying in my honey hole.

There's a hole up close to the dam on the Texas side, some HUGE flatheads/blues have been pulled from there. I've seen it.

This is a good posts with some good tips. Appreciate it.
One question: would it be a good idea to get an Oklahoma license?
I understand that if you are on the Tex. side and you wade into the river to cast, that technically puts you in Ok. and you are subject to being ticketed.

If you wade in the water, better have an OK. license.Game warden will give citations if wading and fishing.Had the ticket thrown out in court due to fact that the TX. handbook states that certain amount of feet was TX. water, most agreed it was to old baithouse, game warden got pretty hot that that I brought TX fishing guide to court with me,judge sided with me in that OK water was further down the river. That OK game warden got very upset and was down there constantly handing out citations,we just quit going due to this nut, about 6 years ago.Planning Sun trip,OKLAHOMA license will work ,not TEXOMA,good only on lake
