I have not been to a public laundry mat in years...
Well I went last weekend because I had to wash my giant quilt... Need an industrial capacity washer.
Can you believe its $5.25 per load to wash? $6.00 per load if you want hot water? Drying is another $1.75 to $3.00 depending on how much time you need.
The irony in this I thought, as I observed the folks around going about their washing, is that these are the same folks who would say they cant afford a $300 washing machine (yes you can get them used for that price). These are not rich folks in these places and they are getting gouged. To make it worse (or better) to my shock in the very back of the lavanderia is a tiny convenience store!
And what do they sell there might you ask!? Lotto tickets, way way marked up Tide and beer! Bonus!? They were selling beer on Sunday at 10am. Not allowed in Denton County. But when I Rome right? So I got a tall boy and hung out for a few hours....
This is a good way to spend a Sunday morning I would suggest!

Yep, total waste of life having to spend time at the washomatic.. Thats's why one of my first purchases when I move out of the house was,, not a hot car,, a giant tv or a boat,, it was freaking used washer and dryer. 50 bucks for both and used them for years. One was avocado green and the other was harvest gold, loved 'em.

I had to use one in college because my old house didn't have washer/dryer hookups. Then several times while working/living where you can only camp out, I had to drive into town on occasion to wash clothes. Now I only go to clean **** that's too dirty to put into my own washer.
A beer cooler and something to read is the only way to go.

Reading this topic just reminds me that some people don't care to OWN "responsibility and baggage."
Some don't want to "own it" Some can't afford to "own it"
...life is about choices

Some apartments don't have the connections for a washer n dryer. That could be why some of them are there. Also, you can knock out all of your laundry at once using multiple machines, which is nice.

If you're not too choosy and shop around for deals, you can get them new for this! Correct, I see decent used ones for around $100-$150 from time to time. So really its like a few weeks worth of laundry then you are in style! I need to go back and counsel those folks on long range planning, cost/benefit analysis as far as paying $9 a load and doing several loads a week vs. saving up for a month and getting their own unit.

I generally go to church on Sundays if not at work. Think this would work on Saturdays?
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

Do they have a ladies night with the beer? And I'm not talking about the non alcoholic beer.
