A Shimano Sienna would be a great choice. $30 at Academy.

I use the Shimano Seinna 500, and my wife likes the Black Max 1000, The 500's are at Walmart $30, Black Max are same price all the box stores..
you'll appreciate the light weight when you get as old as me, and the balance.

Concur on the shimano sienna - you won't go wrong with it.
I think it's the bench mark of 30$ spinning reels. I use shimano stradics as well but I do not see much advantage of them over siennas (they are just a little lighter and smoother).
Sienna is durable, smooth, and has excellent line lay. Drag is smooth and durable as long as you don't get water into it.
