They should be in Walnut Creek pretty good by now . I would try and put in at the 360 bridge if it’s not fenced off now .

That i will be intsalling soon. Paddle holder and anchor trolley are huge. I have not gone to double anchor trolleys...one on each side but I have seen guys who have and see the advantages. Glad you are having fun man! Kayak fishing is about as fun as it gets and most the guys into it are really cool...very helpful. Some are tools but most are cool dudes.

Well i have a lot to learn. But I plan on doing a lot of on the job training. I have an older Hummingbird fish finder now. I will upgrade at a later date. So Things are looking up. Thanks

Just got one too. Makes two of us old Jarheads learning this winter. Haven't had a chance to get mine out yet, but hoping to soon.

Go out and see how you feel. I went out the first time last week and felt real good. Now tomorrow I am going to go out to Cedar Creek and truly try to put a coulpe of Crappie or Kitties on the Yak. it has no fish smell on it. That is just not right.

Good luck out there guys!
Remember safety first. Especially important in the cold water months like now.
Going with a buddy is a top tip I would suggest. Its not really that big a deal in summer when the water is 85 but you see these temps getting under 60 and its no bueno!
Good luck to both of yall and let us know how you do!

And watch the wind forecasts! Tomorrow looks sketchy. I like the "WindFinder" app you can get for droid or apple for free.
Sustained winds around 20 with gusts over 35... I will not be kayaking tomorrow anywhere but up a small protected creek.

I will be in a protected creek. The wind will regulate whether I go or not.

I will be in a protected creek. The wind will regulate whether I go or not. Awesome! If I was closer I would tag along. I will be trying to fish a smaller feeder creek on Lake Lewisville if it seems reasonable I can get back into it. Have to do a quick run across open water to get there and man... gusts over 35 gets my attention really quick as a kayaker ha ha.

Congrats on joining the plastic navy!!!! I'm sure you will love it, my brother. I got my 1st kayak as a way to get out on the water to fish, since my best friend (back home) assured me that I would never use a boat, to fish out of, enough to justify the purchase. Long story short, I ended up kayaking much more than fishing from a kayak. That said, safety should be paramount. This time of year water temps and wind are not your friends. Hypothermia is a killer!!!! I lost a childhood friend from it when he and a buddy capsized in cold water in Michigan, so you should prepare for that. Avoid wearing cotton..... it holds water and keeps you cold, so wear nylon or wool or best yet neoprene and be sure to dress in layers, so you can add or remove layers as needed. Get and carry a dry bag, if you don't have one, and carry a towel or two and an extra set of clothes so you can replace wet cold clothing if needed. Also look at getting a wet suit or at least a farmer john suit. A light 0.5 mm suit works well since it is thin enough to not restrict your range of motion and lends itself well to layering. Let someone know where you are going to be and if possible when you plan on being back. Learn how to get back in your yak if you fall out.... (kind of hard to practice this time of the year) but that can save your life. And if possible go out with a buddy. Enjoy yourself and be safe. I have attached a link to a video that might help you with how to handle cold water paddling. Best of luck to you, hope to see you out on the water one of these days.
