I'll hunt a few more weeks....but when the new year gets here I'll be on Athens at least twice a week. I love fishing there in Jan/Feb. Reports to follow.

I was there Wednesday afternoon. One bite and one fish in four hours. Tons of bait out deep but no bites. Tried everything from from 2 ft to 30 ft. I fish there at least 4 days a month and this was the worst day of the year. Very windy day Wednesday. I would think they would turn on soon with warming trend.

Athens has been as BAD as I ever seen it for catching fish. I mean nothing -- brush piles, weed beds, points, brush piles, channels, boat docks, brush piles --- NADA / ZERO

I've been catching them well on Athens, most recently just floating down the creek channels in coves. I use a weightless Keitech 4" shad thrown weightless, almost fish it like a worm . . . letting it fall through the water column, rest on bottom, then small jerks to retrieve it. This morning, I caught 3 really fast, missed about 3 others where they spit the hook. Fish are cold, not fighting very hard. Interesting! One from yesterday, maybe a bit bigger than my average. Thanks for sharing Brad. I was not sure which bait you meant at first but with a little looking found your detailed review on Tackle Warehouse. Good stuff. Keitech Shad Impact
