Caught a 6lber in 35 ft of water couple weeks ago. I still think a majority of bass are 12ft or less on most reservoirs. Every lake has a different range of what is considered deep, and you have to know what that is when someone says they caught them deep.
It helped me to think that 30ft is only a boat and a half deep.

Like mentioned before, depends on the lake. Amistad deep can be 60', Toledo Bend deep is like 15' (don't fish Toledo much so don't rag on me).

Lake Travis is my home lake. Deep there is like one million feet. Super lame at times.
Since the lake came up all my juicy ledges are now in 35-55 FOW and no fish are using them....

My dad stil talks about 60-90 ft fish on Amistad. A jigging spoon, (slab) is his favorite technique. Like stated above it is very lake specific, and unless its a deep clear lake like Amistad, theres really no reason to fish 40+ ft, in my opinion of course. That plus grass, if a lake has an abundance of grass, there is always fish in it up shallower.

I'm only 5'-8" so anything over 5' is too deep for me!

I don’t know what to do or what to use to catch a bass that deep. Care to share? Slabs/spoons and heavy C-rig/jig.

Honest question, when catching fish out of 45+ FOW, what do you think the survival rate is? I caught a bunch super deep a few years back and every one I caught had its stomach inflated into its mouth. The fish were immediately released to swim back down but I couldn't help but think some barotrauma did a few in despite them swimming off....

Any time we catch them that deep, we fizz them to get them balanced. Its takes practice, but you can definitely have a 100% survival rate based on the pressure change if you do it right.
