You will not need a module box in order to get the new Active Imaging transducer to work on the Carbon units. If you install the new Active Imaging 3in1 or just the 2in1 Active Imaging transducer (without sonar), it can take the place of the 3D transducer and the 3D box. If you like the 3D feature, then leave the 3D transducer in place and run with both structure scan ducers.
Keep in mind if you have a 2D Sonar transducer that you wish to keep working with your Carbon, it will be best to go with the 2in1 Active Imaging transducer (without the sonar) instead of the 3in1 Active Imaging ducer.
FYI - once the LIVE-SIGHT transducer becomes available then you will need a special box for Carbon units. Should you or anyone have questions on the new HDSlive or Elite Ti2 units, feel free to instant message me.

As Rod said but until the update comes out the 2-1 or 3-1 will not work with your Carbon.

Come on Lowrance

Correct in regards to the Carbon update. The update is expected out in next couple of weeks.

Unless the new update does not comes out with 'Active Image only', it should be safe to use on any Carbon unit no matter the transducers being used.
