I am looking to purchase a new fish finder under 300 dollars. Which brand would be my best bet. Currently have a Humminbird 100SX which came with the boat when I purchased it. Thanks in advance.

I would buy an Eagle 480. Sometimes you can get them for $180 at Basspro. I think they are normally $200. I have two on my boat. Eagle and Lowrance are the same company - you just pay a premium for the Lowrance name.

Hang lose, mefish2. You should have about 30 more opinions before breakfast.
In the meantime, you might want to look up the specs on a Lowrance x67c. That's one.

I'd spend another 100 and get the Eagle 480 with GPS. If you already have GPS then the 480 is a good bet.
The Eagle 320 is on the bow of my boat and I can hardly tell the difference so it might be the best option, your call.

I'll second the Eagle 320 if you don't want GPS.

I'll second the Eagle 320 if you don't want GPS. Make that a Third recommendation for the front. As far as GPS, be ready to spend some $$$ for a good one. This is when the old adage comes into play: You get what you pay for. Good Luck

I have the Eagle 320 at the console when I bought the boat and a Lowrance X47tx on the trolling motor. I replace the X47 with a portable Eagle 320 I already had for Canadian Wilderness trips. I am very satisfied but if I was starting over I would buy the best for I could afford. Here's an Eagle 320 (portable) while on a Canadian Lake going going full out with a 9.9 Merc/Lund/16'. Those are Walleyes in the pic. Good luck.

I've got the the Eagle 320C on the bow of my boat and the the Fishmark 480 on the console. I didn't get the GPS feature with ethier one, I ended up buying the Lowrance H2O GPS for Christmas.

I had an Eagle FishMark 320 on the bow of my last boat and an Eagle FishElite 480 (GPS) at the console of my last boat. Both were great units and I would recommend them to anyone on a budget. If you can get color though, get color.
Good luck with whatever you get.

I have the Eagle 320 on the console but will soon be getting a 480 with GPS and moving the 320 to the bow.

Yep...if you have $300...spend $200 on the Eagle 480, and spend the other $100 on other stuff.
I've got the 480 on my console and the 320 on my TM. Great units all the way around.
You can see some screen shots on my website below...under the "Graphic Images" link.

Great photo by UJC.
Think what it would look like in color. My 2 worth.

Looks like Eagle is the way to go. I have no interest in GPS yet. Thanks for all the info.
