Oh. Top water is a left reel also, as I can cadence the frog/dawg/popper better with my right hand on the rod.

There is no right or wrong. Use what works for you.

Other than the topwater, I do exactly what Steez does. Bought my first lefty about 25 years ago and have slowly converted my fishing buddies by giving them lefties for Christmas and birthdays. Got two Lefty Revos from Academy last month on clearance for $50 each. Gave one to my bro in law and one to my son for Christmas. I'm the Johnny Appleseed of left hand retrieve reels for pitching.

Yes, that is the way I do it.
I have some left retrieve baitcasters, but they feel awkward to me.

Same here. I started out with a Mitchell 300 when I was about 9 years old. When I got my first bait caster, I saw no reason to go with anything but a left hand retrieve. But it is a free country; do what you wanna do.

Being a lefty growing up in a right handed world worked out great for me. Cast with my left and crank with my right, both bait casters and spinning reels.

I'm right handed. I destroyed my left shoulder a few years ago in a bad accident. For a long time, the only thing I could do with it was reel. I taught myself to cast with my right hand and reel with my left hand. Now all my setups are lefty.

Now it feels weird and clumsy to switch the rod between hands.

All I've ever bought in baitcasters are left handed....I tried learning to do it right handed but I caused myself more frustration and backlashes than I could handle...:) My strong side is my right side so it made sense to me that I should hold the rod on the right and cast and reel with my left.

I used to switch like you said but realized two years ago that I was leaving all my spinning rods left hand reel instead of swapping the handle to the rh side, so I bought all left hand bait casters and have eliminated that step of swapping the rod back and forth 500 plus times a day!

It didnt take me but two days to be fully use to reeling bait casters with my left hand.

I always wanted to try left handed reels. I bought one and it was very awkward. Then I got exited on an academy sale and bought
3 more by mistake =4. Then I just bought 7 more by mistake = 11. I'm going to start using left handed reels!

+1, I completely agree
