i have an Humminbird Helix 9 si gen1. I am thinking about updating it to a Helix 12 si mega or Solis 12 si mega. can i get some input what direction everyone is thinking would be better. I usually fish for sandies and hybrids.

Helix is button operated and SOLIX is button and touch screen operated.

SOLIX has a very different menu system that is more complicated than a Helix.

Just depends on how much time you want to take to completely learn how to operate the SOLIX.

Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3,
Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

The SOLIX has Dual Spectrum 2D sonar.
The SI model Helix units did not get Dual Spectrum 2D until the G3 and G3N models.
So if you wait for the Helix G3N to be at dealers, they will be a little better than the current SOLIX , BUT since there will be a SOLIX G2 coming out soon the Helix G3 and SOLIX G2 will be similar in sonar performance. Extra power and range for the MEGA frequency.
