Don’t forget spilling scent, insisting on beating the bank when it’s a hundred degrees at 8:00am, getting hung in brush on the bank and insisting you take your $80,000 investment into 1foot of water to retrieve his $4 spinner bait, telling you to boat flip that 7 liber cause he just made the dream cast....

My favorite was the one about taking everyone he knew to the spot he showed him. Never take anyone to a spot you don't want him, his friends, and everyone they ever know to fish it every time out.

This is one that a very good fishing buddy of mine violated. I showed him a great post spawn spawn spot in a club tournament. We won the tournament hands down. I asked him not to fish it for week as I had a big tournament the following week and I was pretty sure I could win it there. Fast forward the the next Friday. I go up there just to check "my" fish out and he was there with his two sons. He had been there most of the week and he told me he was "killing them" there. I reminded him of our agreement and he said there were plenty of fish there so not problem! I went back there the next day (tournament day) and did not catch a fish. He and his sons had sore mouthed all the fish.

That was almost 25 years ago and I have NEVER shared a spot with him since them. He has actually asked me a few times for advice where to fish and I remind of the time I did share a spot with him.

I have been on the receiving end of most of the scenes. I have a few pet peeves when I take folks fishing.

Leaving trash in my boat or truck
Throwing behind the boat as we troll down a bank (you will get hung)
Stepping on my rods
Picking up my rod and backlashing it

Going to Fork one day had a guy bugging me to go so I asked him if he wanted to go. He said yes and I pick him up in Grand Prairie. We get down the road and he tells me has to be home by noon or his wife will kill him. It’s a 2 hour drive! Turned around and took him home fished until dark by myself

I am super chill and can deal with almost anything related to fishing, being bad at fishing, rookie stuff, etc: it's just anything that has to do with respect for the boat. That's the only one that gets me hotter than anything. You don't have to be an expert to respect a man's stuff. I hate anything that has to do with stepping on seats, top cap, consoles and windshields, leaving [censored] around, beating rods and baits on everything, etc. If it's carpeted or rubber non skid, step there, if it's not, don't. As a young guy, who even now running my shop had to work very very hard to afford the boats I was able to have now and in college (worth more than anything else I owned combined... even the ole 2500 dollar Cajun I had back in the day!) I just have a serious thing for boat respect. I know what it's like to slave to own a boat, and watching another tear it up burns me. Hence, when I'm in others boats... regardless of how good of a fisherman I am, I treat their boat like my own.
