It's been 10 years or so since I've been to Amistad. Which are the best fishermen friendly places to stay close to the lake? I'd like to have easy access parking with hookups.

No motels close to the lake, all have shut down. Call Tommy at River Street Lodging 830-734-3248 he would be the closest out towards the lake.

I know. Sad huh? Amazing the difference between the two border lakes. Falcon(Zapata) has survived many up and down water fluctuations and while Im sure the slow/down times take there toll on area businesses they seem to survive. Many lodging choices in Zappata still available after all these years. Seems like when the water level dropped real low on Amistad several years ago and fishing slowed all the related businesses in Del Rio dried up. All the lodging disappeared. Sad.

You can also try the AF Marina. Good cabins priced right few hundred yards from their Marina.

Can't go wrong with Ramada, good breakfast, decent boat parking, clean, only negative is its in town, not at the lake. But thats where I stay.

I think the property value taxes increasing in value like they did is what killed them.
