This afternoon, I snuck away to play 9 holes of golf. My plan was to play by myself, get nine holes in before the wife got home from grocery shopping. If I did it right, she wouldnt even know I got to go enjoy the afternoon, but that is a different topic all together. Anyway, I get to the first tee box and there are three older guys there in the process of starting their game. They asked me to join them. They were playing off the old people tee box, I normally play from the white box. Not to stick out, I played from the old box. We all made a bogey on the first hole, one of them then chimed up, why dont we play a quarter a hole? Reluctantly, I agreed. Gambling while playing golf changes the game. Either way, I ended up taking 7 out of 9 holes from three very nice older guys. They were not crippled up and stuff, but they had a few miles on them. I outdrove them by 50 yards or more with my driver so I even started using my 3 iron off the box. That kind of evened up the distance, but for for some reason, I was hitting the green today. If I didnt three putt two of the holes I could have won all nine holes.

In this situation, should I have offered to play from the blue tees? I didnt do it because first of all, normally I suck at golf, but mostly, I felt like that would make it awkward. I think it would have felt wrong after a couple of holes to step back to the blue tees. Anyway, I felt bad after the game taking home six bucks from these guys.

What would a good person do in this situation? I bought two 24 ounce Keystones at the register of the gas station with my winnings. That made me feel good, but still, I kind of feel like I took advantage of the elderly today.

They were probably raising hell when you left about you being a snowflake, and worthless, and all that. Serves them right. Next time play for big money.

I think that as long as you didnt call them on the phone pretending to be their grandson, saying you were stuck in some foreign country, and the only way to get home would be for them to go buy a bunch of prepaid Visa cards and give you the card numbers, then youre fine.

I demanded my damn money before I got off the last green. Dont get me wrong, I won that. But I now kind of feel bad about it.

They might be suckering you in for the next time like a pool hustler does.

Or, depending on how you were dressed,
they might have thought you could use a few bucks to stop at Goodwill for some new clothes on the way home.

So by quarter a hole do you mean 25cents a hole? Or $25 a hole. Cause 25cents a hole is kinda low sounding and not worth fooling with. $25 a hole seems stout.

Just asking, as its been 30 years since Ive golfed competitively.

What in the world is on this Ill be gone long enough for you to play 9 holes of golf grocery list.

(BTW - Yes, you should feel bad about using the charity 3 iron and three-putting two holes, thereby losing them.)
