READ THE RULES ALWAYS

And if you are concerned about another angler coming in on you, drop anchor, most tourneys have a 50yd rule if you drop anchor. Ask me why I mention this!!!!

90% of anglers have no idea what 50 yards is on the water, A Laser range finder can help your case.

Did not hear about anything this past weekend.

Your referring to the high school tournament?

The 50 yard rule for some of the high school tournaments is written weird to me, maybe it's the norm. It states the boat must be anchored with power poles or a similar shallow water device. It also states the trolling motor must be in the "up" position. I had a boat pull within 10 yards, between us and the bank, in a very narrow area. He was literally my boat length away. The boat captain argued my trolling motor was down so I wasn't "anchored" even though the power poles were down. Never mind there is a the 25 yard rule also, he didn't seem to be aware of that one.

The trolling motor stowed is common in all 'anchored' rules. Only way to confirm anchoring. They don't account for electronic anchoring (yet).

it has become a sad deal when other fisherman believe it is OK to pull even within 50 yards of another boat fishing. These young kids think nothing of it anymore.

Retirement best job ever.

The trolling motor stowed while anchored rule was put in rulesets years ago to stop people from just dropping a weighted rope over the side and saying "look, I am anchored" while still moving around with the trolling motor and blocking entire sections of a lake. Most have the 25 yard rule for non-anchored boats though. They may not need to modify this for electronic anchors. Can't you partially deploy those? That would end up being the same as the rope over the side. "Hey my power pole is down(ish), I'm anchored" and then trolling around to whatever area they want to protect.

I think you just get rid of the 50 yard rule while anchored. How many guys fish with there trolling motor not deployed? Also I think communication should be required between the 2 parties.
