I use several different frogs and haven't come up with a favorite yet but for the rod, im a little different than others have suggested. I like a 7ft M/H or H action depending on the manufacturer you choose. I can walk the dog with a 7ft rod easier than I can with a longer one. I use a Lews Super Duty 8-1 gear ratio reel and 65 pound test braid.
The rods that I use are a 5 power.

Ok another reason I don't run braid on my baitcasters is because it is my nemesis! I never backlash but put braid on a baitcaster and I'm cursing within 5 casts! What's the dang secret?

Make sure you aren't using too small diameter of line. For example, 20# braid is same as 6# mono. I would suggest 50#-65# braid for frogs. 50# braid is same diameter as 15#.

Old school right there... Tell you what though those suckers work sometimes when the others dont. Paycheck baits Transporter frogs are my favorite....Cant find them anymore though. Discontinued I think. I have a pretty good stock of them though. 5 or 6. That should last a while.

Should cast the same. Even with 65# braid. Make sure you are leaving some mono or floro on your reel as backing before you put on your braid.

I use a Megabass Orochi XX Perfect Pitch and usually 55lb Daiwa Samurai braid. Lots of great frogs on the market including the Spros, Teckels, and Terminator brands. I have been testing a prototype on and off the past year or so that I like a lot and actually got the final prototype on it. Its built right, stout hook, great body that is durable and compresses very well, walks very easily and comes over or through cover well. And last but not least does not take on water too bad.

I'm short, and fish from a pond boat. I use a 7' Heavy rod by either BPS or Berkley with a Lew's LFS 6.8:1 and 65# braid.

I would also recommend using some KVD lure and line conditioner, the reel magic is good but I think the KVD is better.

Just learn to cast it there is no trick 50lb-65lb braid is a must for frog fishing, and it cast just like other lines.

Nothing but Cara Amistad for my frog fishing, and spros are my favorite ribbits.
