Yep, saw you out there! Heck of a day! We managed a couple limits but sure worked for it. We found them shallow a few times, and definitely did better in those spots, just couldn't stay on them shallow.

Tyler and I went out yesterday. Thank you for all the help. We were left pondering a few questions. We were able to catch a couple fish under the birds chunking lures but we wouldn't say it was easy fishing. We both thought that we would have caught 30 more fish than we did.
1. What is your lure of choice when chasing the birds? We through sassy shads, crank baits, slabs, ect. We caught a few on all those but it seems like when we through a larger profile swim bait that we got bit a bit more.
2. How long of a season are we able to chase birds?
Birds can be productive all winter. Sometimes you can find that just one Loon can be feeding around a huge school of fish. If I see a Loon I will always check out the area. Also be aware that sometimes you may see birds working really hard and diving but there may not be any fish under them. This can happen quite often especially on Whitney for whatever reason. Chartreuse and white bucktail jigs is what I usually throw this time of year. After this cold front the Brazos should start getting good

Great info, appreciate that! I figured they would have to move up at some point. Might be worth the run up to look around next time out.

There was a visible mud line at McCown bend. Very few fish past it. If the water will clear up I think they will start moving up. Water temp was 61-63 on Sunday.

Good to know about the mud line. I wondered about that. I was surprised at the color of the South end. Normal water for most lakes but I've never seen Whitney that off color.
