I don't like the cast netters like everyone else but it is legal if they are only keeping the tilapia. I have seen them take bass as well too. As far as it depleting the bait for the bass it might be doing that some. All the fish I caught last Friday we very healthy looking and a couple of them were extremely full of bait. There is still grass in the lake and I have pulled up some hydrilla in some places as well. The lake has turned over a couple times in the last month and the water temp has dropped down to the low 70's. The fishing has been tough but its been that way everywhere. Its just that time of the year.

I hear ya, I use to fish the lake once a week, but health issues have caused me to slow down a bunch. I am headed that way as we speak so I should have a report no later than tomorrow. I can normally find a bite somewhere and I should be able to again since I've fished this lake so much. Small lake, they can run but they can't hide 100 %. LOL Now watch me get my rear end handed to me since I mentioned this. I'm just like the rest of you anglers and I have some really tough days as well. Here we go, I'm south bond and out of here.

Basspro99, you should see all the dead bait fish over at prier park boat slips some time. Most of the time they throw it back into the water but I have watched them clean out their boats before. Baby tilapia, perch as well as shad are been tossed overboard. Since those fish mentioned are not game fish they are allowed to th3em go to waste as well. It's just a sad thing to watch is all. No good reason to kill those bait fish like that. Yes it would take much longer to cull through every net that is dumped, but yet it seems like it would be the right thing for anyone to do for the sake of the lake. And I can complain on this web site as much as I want and still noting will done to correct it. I have been told to record these actions and then they might be able to correct the issue.

Man, that stinks to hear or see that. Hopefully someday things will get handled the right way for the lake.

Fayette can be about being on a school or a certain pattern. I have been there when we absolutely smoked them and back at the ramp they were all saying how tough it was. Been on the other side of that as well. You can have a 100+ fish day there at times. You just need to be on a group thats feeding.

Don't forget to ask the cast netters if they've seen any of the alligators yet that live in the shallow areas.

There were three guys wading and throwing cast nets the other day when I was there. And they were still there in the water after dark throwing these nets. A boat takes these guys and drop them off, I wish they could regulate this activity better than what is being done.

You are the only one trolling.

Trolling? Do you even know what that means? I find the prominence of the cast netting idiots out there to be a legitimate concern. They have no respect for people fishing so what makes you think they care about a bass vs a talapia? Not to hijack the thread but now they are doing it from the decks of small boats as well. Ive only been fishing it for 3 years but Ive only just started noticing them. Cast netting from boats this summer.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

Fayette is going to wind up like Fairfield as the netting has just about ruined Fairfield fishing. Something needs to be done before Fayette is ruined!!

If they are selling the fish they catch then it is absolutely illegal without proper permits through the state. Can't even give away a fish without a resource transfer document to a bait shop much less a market.
