What rig do yall use for trout in ponds? When I fish for them in a river I use a 3-way rig and fish on the bottom.

I'm curious how hard folks go after em. This will be my first year targeting them but I'm pulling my kindergartner out after lunch on Friday to go hit em right after stocking.

powerbait and the powerbait worms. I have had the best luck with get the dough and rolling it up on the tip end of the worm. to you have a ball with the worm tail hanging out.

I use Super Duper lures. You have to play with the size because sometimes they want small lures other times they will hit the bigger ones. Either silver or gold for the coloring. I have tried powerbaits and salmon eggs but have personally had no luck with those. I used three-way rig and carolina rig to no avail.

Sounds like improvised Mice Tails. That's what we used last year and slammed them. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/berk...werbait-floating-mice-tails/1317146.html

Last year I targeted trout pretty hard with my two older kids (then 6 and 3). We'd go out at least once every weekend from now until February. I will say this if you're going out this early in the season and going to one of those places that get stocked anywhere from 4-8 times throughout the season: I have never had much luck at those ponds. I've been to four of them over the years and never had much luck. I think you'll catch a lot more at the ponds that only get stocked once or twice, since more fish are dumped in at the time. I went out this past weekend to one of those ponds that get stocked multiple times. There were probably a dozen other individuals/groups of people out there at 8:00 a.m. The most fish I saw anyone catch was two. We got one. It's a very different experience from fishing the single-stocked ponds where we will limit out for three weeks in a row.

went to allen around noon to catch some trout before the cold front moves in tonight. caught about 20 on super dupers. majority of the fish were congregated on the north end of the pond. it was like fishing in a barrel for about 5 or 6 guys while rest of the ppl just watched. hopefully the school has had time to spread out over the pond a bit.

Small trout are stock in our local pond which means we have to buy small hooks and may one clip on split shot. We put a slip cork on it and basically if the cork leans over you have a fish on and just start reeling it in. No big hook set motion is required.
Open a bag of frozen corn and a couple of teaspoons of frozen corn is more than enough bait to get your five trout.

The cormorants are eating more than what is being caught. Watched 1 caught with 4 eaten.

I went once last year, no luck.
This year Mary Jo Peckham was stocked 1/11 with approx 400 rainbows. Went after work with my family at approx 4:15pm, stayed till 5:30pm. We used dead minnow, and powerbait balls, no bites. There were about 20 other anglers, didn't see any catches, but one guy had 2 on a stringer when he left.
I went back 1/12 after work, chummed with canned corn and used corn w/ the powerbait balls, no bites. Guy next to me was floating nightcrawlers, no luck either. About 30 anglers. Only saw 1 guy with hip boots in the water fly fishing caught 2. saw a cormorant eat one. we did see the trout surfacing, even saw one swimming near the bank at sunset biting at the flies on the surface.
I will be going back out Monday, and may be Tuesday. I'm determined to catch atleast 1 this year.
