that would be a start. illegal fish and no ID = jail

So, if you went fishing and caught a fish, and the game warden asked for your license and you discover you don't have your wallet, you think you should go to jail. (fish + no license or ID)

If i'm not doing anything wrong other than forgetting my wallet, no. If I'm cleaning bass at the cleaning station and have in my possession a 12' cast net, no fishing rods and no ID when the warden ask to see it, yes I should go to jail.

So it's ok for you not to have an ID but not for others?

You are in possession of a game fish and no license, and that's OK for you but not others?

I see what I'm dealing with here .... i'm going to go talk to a wall now. [/quote]

Yeah, you see yourself as above the law. Stay in Virginia, Texas Game Wardens will throw you under the jail.

Yes, I have special needs. Do you find it amusing to pick on a special needs person?

LOL Picking on? No, just trying to figure out why you think you are above the law. But seeing how blue the state of virginia is, I understand now. Just a liberal gimme type of place.

I'm far from a liberal my friend, I'm trump 100% ... that's one thing me and you can agree on. I don't think I'm above the law, just saying if I'm (or anyone else) not doing anything wrong and simply forgot my wallet, i'm sure the game warden would let me go with a fine instead of jail. But if I were doing something illegal to begin with, it would be a different story. You do agree right?

I would agree. Not everyone using a cast net is doing so illegally. The game wardens do a great job, but can't be everywhere at the same time. Deer season has just opened and that is taking most of their time. Park rangers do not have law enforcement permissions, and can only call LE. I have fished Fairfield since 1973, long before there were any facilities resembling a park. Just a red mud road leading up to a portable building where you paid an entrance fee. Only open during daylight and no camping. Illegal fishing activities were going on then. A famous bait maker was one of them that got caught, in fact he was caught twice. I was one that complained loudly about the "old guys" that took five gallon buckets of bass everyday from the tree line on the west side of the lake. Fairfield will continue to fish good. With the cooling of the lake, "fishermen" will have to learn how to fish again. Cast netters cannot hurt the lake.

If you see something illegal, CALL OPERATION GAME THIEF or the local game warden.

The Head Park Ranger at Fairfield is a State Police Officer. Just ask him why he carries a weapon. They can and do issue citations. They enforce TP&W laws and Penal code. We get enough below freezing days the Tilapia will suffer and die out eventually. Yall have no idea the citations that Shawna and Sam have issued on this lake and the hours they have put in on this lake or how many feet of illegal gill nets they have removed from this lake. Had a long conversation with Danny the new Warden and he is well aware of the netting problems.

1. you don't need a fishing license when you fish a lake whose boundaries are located fully within a state park.

Texas State Parks are proud to host Free Fishing in State Parks, a year-round program to encourage folks to spend time enjoying one of Americas greatest pastimes.

2. You still have to abide by state or lake regs.
3. Most criminals seem not to have DL or other ID. Just watch PD Live.

Strange Focus? We will assume you mean Fishermen fishing in an illegal manner...which of course netting is not. Retaining gamefish(bass) from your nets is illegal...Tiapia are not. On Squaw Creek you are instructed at the gate on a plamplet to KILL ALL TILIPIA caught even if you are not actually fishing for them. Yes we need law inforcement for enforcing the laws on our lakes but they are spread pretty thin. No easy answers.
