I've fished 3 different lakes lately and have not found them easily. 2 lakes had limited gizzards between 22-28' and scattered. The other lake was 4' above pool. Only found large gizzards in flooded grass along shorelines. Threadfin are easy by the hundreds but would likely be useless for big fish on Tawok. Good luck on your trip!

In the flooded grass. Wouldn't have thought of that.

In the flooded grass. Wouldn't have thought of that. Its been a few weeks but I found them in flooded grass on Lewisville. Not in aquatic grasses... like Bermuda grass in flooded parks.

We saw walls of med sized 5 gizzard Shad out in 28 ft. We had to go to structure to get our big baits though. Took us a good hour to muster up a dozen big enough for stinger hooks. Im tellin ya we would mark a dozen big gizzards and Id drop right on top of em and only get 1. I must have thrown that dang deep net 12 times and untangled a dozen eater blues in the process. We were seriously beat down but we got our 12 baits! Sometimes getting the right baits is the hardest part about bluecatn! With a big NE front hitting Wednesday you might want to take some baits with ya just in case Mother Nature sticks it to ya!
