Better half wants to visit both places this year between Christmas and New Years. Any suggestions on places to stay other than the regular websites? Just curious for suggestions from personal experience. We’ve never been

One of the casino's always get my vote on where to stay in Memphis. You can get some cheap deals on some really nice places. The Bass Pro store in the Pyramid is a must visit place along with Graceland & Beal Street.
I fish on the edge and stay out of the middle

My nephew likes staying at Opryland....and they do have a great steakhouse. Lots of people tho...they really do the hotel up for Christmas.
I prefer to be down in the Gulch. The Hilton is nice...not far from Broadway.

We stayed at the James House and it was pretty neat and worth a look. We also stayed at the Gold Strike in Tunica on a different trip, it was OK.

Must be nice
Every time I was there I slept in the sleeper of an 18 wheeler at a truck stop
wouldn't know how to act as a tourist.

If you are in Nashville, do yourself a favor and dine at the Loveless Cafe.
I don’t know what they do...but their biscuits are heavenly.
The Old Hickory Steakhouse is in the Opryland Hotel...very good, but a bit expensive.

Went to Nashville between Christmas and NYE last year. Cold....didn’t do Memphis but did go to Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg. Moonshine and amusement parks. Also drove over to Asheville to the Biltmore. Fantastic meal and wine tastings. Even joined their wine club.

We stayed at the Heartbreak Hotel in Memphis. It was new then. Do not know how the years have treated it. We liked Nashville & lots to do there. Also, take a short trip to the Jack Daniels Distillery (interesting) & it is free).

In Nashville eat at Hattie B's Hot Chicken....we ate there two days in a row. Country music HOF is a must. Broadway is great for day drinking.
Memphis is dirty but a really neat place. Beale Street is fun place to check out. Stay at one of the Casinos in Tunica......Horseshoe, Gold Strike Hollywood. Eat at Memphis Barbecue Company....

Graceland at Christmas is pretty cool. At least it was in 1990 when I lived in Bartlett.

Beale street in Memphis on Saturday night can be exciting especially if the Beale Street Flippers show up stoned.
