Last Friday October 7th I caught this NICE Longnose Gar while fishing with my brother on Lake Calaveras. We were with friend and Pro Guide Harry Lamb of Alamo Fishing Texas. We were fishing for Blue Cats in 30 feet of water. Fish were suspended in 17 to 20 feet of water. Using slip floats adjusted to 17 feet depth with cut bait a very nice Longnose Gar took the bait. The fight was AWESOME! The fish was heavy and it's length was 51 inches. Measurement and photographs were taken of the fish. The fish was released. Paper work was sent to the Texas Parks&Wildlife and the Certificates arrived today. The Gar is the current Catch&Release Record for Lake Calaveras. Fishing with my brother and friend Harry Lamb. It just don't get any better! fish

roflmao Gar are some amazing fish to catch, they get huge and put up an amazing fight with lots of spectacular leaps out of the water. The last one I caught was while bass fishing, seeing a ~10lb fish jump entirely out of the water not once but multiple times was mind blowing. I can't even imagine a 100, 200 or 300lb fish doing the same but they do!
