Folks, below is the final list that we currently have for the May 4th-6th, 2007 Big E charter. We believe it to be accurate.
We just talked to Captain Elliott's a bit ago, and there is no additional fuel surcharge for the charter.
JP should have the fuel surcharge that was applied then removed in 2006. You need to decide what to do with your part of the refund. It has been suggested that it be applied to the crews tip. That is up to the individual.
Departure time is 11 am on Friday. Suggest that you try to get there by 10 am to take care of business and to unload and move stuff to the dock for boat loading.
Last year on TBB 06, folks were able to load on the boat early once just about everyone was there. That however is up to Captain Frank regarding loading. He most likely will go over the details of the boat and the trip before departing, so expect a talk before departure. The sooner everyone gets there the better the chance to leave on time.
Recommend you unload your stuff and move the vehicle to the parking area over the beam.
We strongly recommend that folks hide or put away anything in vehicles that might interest thieves.
Return time is 3pm on Sunday.
Captain Elliott's told us a few folks have been calling and asking about the weather. They asked that we call on Thursady and check with them on the weather. We will post and contact folks, if there is important news about the weather. Otherwise it will be no news is good news.

Good Luck to everyone

Thanks Willie. We're totally excited and can't wait!!!

JP, my vote for the surplus is to be counted towards the tip. If I remember right wasn't it around $45 or so that was over paid because of the fuel surplus? I'm ok with it being refunded one by one if that's what you want but I'd rather just a bit to it and use it for my tip.

We're staying with the group at the Day's Inn so we'll be at dock no later than 10am for sure and will probably arrive a bit earlier just in case we need to perch fish a bit more before we go.

after TOO and the captain talks, I need to say a few things about how the food operation will go- and what is expected before ANYONE touches any food with thier hands... thanks.

My vote is for a refund to each person. The reason is I know these guys and fish the Big E a lot. I like to hand my tip to them personally, shake their hand and tell them what a good job they did, when the crew comes around for the tip. I do not like the idea of the group giving them a tip. Furthermore, I don't think a tip of $45/person is enough. But, I will defer to JP if he prefers a group tip.

I will add here that if we do refunds, and the refund is $45, then folks should, IMO, be prepared to pony up more for a job well done. If you only tip 10%, thats $50. Its a personal thing, and you should tip what you are comfortable with, but 15% is reasonable IMO. Only passing this little bit of info on because I know there are some new guys going on this trip and they may not know.

Sorry, a small peave of mine when the crew gets stiffed.

No hard feelings Jig...not my intentions to stiff the crew. I was mearly suggesting that the $45 be a starting point. I'm figuring on $100 from each of the persons in my group for the tip. Was just figuring that they'd hand me $45 and I'd put my money with it. If they want to disperse the funds and each of us put in our tip that's fine. Just seems like a lot of extra work for JP.

No hard feelings...the crew will be taken care of from this group...I'm sure of it!

i vote the refund for the first "half" of the tip, then hand the remaining amount to the crew and personally thank who needs thanking.

Cameron, I know you weren't trying to stiff em. And I doubt anyone would on this trip. I just was trying to point it out in case some of the new folks did not know the etiquite with tipping and all that. Coupled with the potential refund situation, I was attempting to clarify (and likely just confused it).

Really sorry if it came across as abrasive. :-)

Rick, thats for the call. Sharon Wislon has the spot that your name was on. List has been updated to include her.
We believe everything is now correct. There has been a lot of changes the last few weeks. LOL
