Use smaller circle hooks and bait. Any cut bait should work, lots of videos show people doing well using hotdogs. Get some 20% protein range cubes and drop a couple down with each jug line. I dont specifically target channels but catch plenty fishing for blues. I rarely fish deeper than 20 feet, 8-18 fow is usually my sweet spot. Asian markets have lots of good fish that work well jugging I like mackerel but have a friend that only uses milk fish. Good luck.

I use deer livers or other organ parts form different animals for channel cats. Also for channels I fish lower on the river, the flood plains where the water is only about 10 or 15ft deep and as sandly bottom. Once the upper part of the river changes to a rocky shale bottom, it better t use cut bait and target blues.

I've had good luck with chicken hearts. They are cheap and the perfect size.

i like noodle jugs (You Tube to make) look for creek channels in the area and that is where i would drop some lines. i use natural forage for that lake, perch, chad, carp if cant find chicken hearts work well and stay on. i use no larger than a 4/0 hook on my lines and use a double rig. I do not fish deeper than 20'.
hope that helps,
