So the word is that Toledo was sprayed and there is little to no vegetation in the lake. Anyone with thoughts or info that can share would be appreciated.

I haven't seen any Spraying, I know early in the year the cold weather and fluctuating water levels on Rayburn and Toledo killed a bunch of it. It has came back pretty strong in some areas of Rayburn.

As for as fishing the fish will still relate to the closest cover in the area. I like it better when there is not grass because then I know look for creeks, points and ledges with stumps or brush.

Not what Rayburn needs! Atleast they did it now instead of the spawn

I wish they would spray the extreme north end of Toledo. The salvinia is getting bad.

Guys im 50 years old and its not the first time. Makes me sick! If you ask the authorities the question and they lie... im over it. Its poison to grass and the bass period. Dont care what is said. If not prove it.

They have been spraying both lakes for as long as I can remember. When fishing is good, nobody complains. Now that toledo sucks, it's of course the spraying ..

Believe it or not Lake Livingston used to have hydrilla and coon tail in the late 70's and early 80's. In coves and the backs of creeks the water was so clear you could see the bass swimming around. The fishing was incredible for size and numbers. Then TPW came in a nuked it, within a month you might catch 1-2 fish a day and they looked sickly. It got so bad people with houses on the lake were driving to Rayburn and T-Bend to fish.
I'm sure they are probably using different chemicals now and are more knowledgeable about how much to use and where, but the grass on Livingston never recovered, and it definitely had an affect of the bass themselves for years.

No doubt but I think they took it out of control with the last spray job on toledo. Although the huge amounts of meat eaters take a big toll as well with all the publicity.

I'm curious, have the meat eaters just shown up the last couple years? I would have thought they've always been there.

I thought it was needed, at least from the looks of it. Spent an hour pulling salvania off my trailer and boat after launching and loading at shirley creek 2 weeks ago.

All they spray for on Rayburn and Toledo is Salvinia. You would hate the results if they didnt. They did killenjust about everything on Toledo in some places last year. On the positive good vegetation is rebounding this year and you can actually get to the back of creeks that had no access two years ago. They seem to do really well on Rayburn. Hydrilla has spread while salvinia has been somwwhat controlled. Until someone comes up with a magic bullet some spraying is going to be required. Nobody would like the alternative.
