After more than a month away from the water I finally got a little time today to rectify that situation. Loaded up the tube and headed over to Lake Athens this morning. Fishing was kind of slow which I pretty much expected but I knew if I kept at it I'd find some. Didn't get nearly as many as i do in the summer but I'd gues took 17 or 18 fish today. Most were in the 5-6 inch range but i got enough bigger fish to keep it interesting.   Got a mix of gills, shellcrackers and redbreast. Biggest fish if the day was the gill above and he was between 8 and 9 inches. A piece of crawler fished weightless proved to be the ticket. They hit it on the fall at the edge of the lily pads. If felt good to get out! All fish were released to fight another day. Cheers Y'All!

Nice post and fish.  Glad you were able to find some. It has been very slow for me the past two days. Fished some new water!  Side Note: Were the fish in deeper water compared to your past trips?
