Like a dummy I had the rod box open on my ranger while in the garage. Closed the garage door and it got caught in the rod box lid and pulled the lid partially off the hinges. The pop rivets are what broke and my standard size rivets arent doing the job. Anyone know what size rivets ranger uses on their hinges? 2015 ranger z521.
Thanks

I dont know but you can take a drill bit (probably 1/4") and drill the head off the rivet (the head will start spinning when you are though and will probably stick to the bit). Then take a small punch and punch the rivet out of the hinge. You can then measure the hole in the hinge to find out what size it is.

Ive gotten that far and have rivets that are the correct diameter and depth. The problem is every time put new rivets in and close the lid the new rivets start to pull out.

Are the rivers all the way through the fiberglass? If so you can put a backup washer on the backside of the rivet.

Try sliding the end of wire tie or maybe two into the hole then the rivet it should work. Then cut off the surplus wire tie.

Drill the the head off then get a bit the same size as new rivet. Just drill far enough to flush the rivet then crank it down

Ive gotten that far and have rivets that are the correct diameter and depth. The problem is every time put new rivets in and close the lid the new rivets start to pull out. If the rivets pull out, then you either have too small diameter size or wrong length of a rivet. the diameter is easy to figure out. 1/8",5/32",3/16".typical sizes. Make sure the diameter in the glass is not larger than in the hinge or it will pull out. The hole must be the same through all materials. The length is harder unless you have a grip gauge, it will be hinge thickness, plus carpet, plus fiberglass = length. if you dont have a grip gauge you could make a makeshift gauge with a piece of bent wire to stick in the hole and measure from the back of the glass to the front of hinge. I think pop rivets are sold in 1/8" length increments. too long of a rivet will just pull out eventually and destroy the hole. As too short will not pull proper and not grab, then pull out eventually also.
