I just saw a couple of guys idling across the flooded parking lot by the Oasis at Joe Pool lake in a very nice Ranger!

Probably taking people out to their boats. My boat is stranded at my slip so I may be using his services soon just to get my stuff out of my locker. Tonight's rain may push the lake 12+ feet high. Not sure when it will be fishable again.

I took a pic of their work barge doing the same thing last week when I checked on my boat.

It's going to be next spring before the lake recovers. Just curious what you mean by this as I fish this lake a lot. Recovers as in productive fishing? Or as in when the lake level will come back down and the ramps will be open? I am not familiar with the last times this lake has flooded, why do they take so long to lower the level when it is like this? I understand it is a flood control reservoir and they haven't released an ounce of water since it has come up, at what point will they, if ever? Thanks!

A couple miles downstream is a power plant lake, Mountain Creek. Joe Pool can only release water as fast as MC can discharge it. MC has to remain almost constant level for the plant to operate correctly. The COE needs to take their time and the parks need to let us launch! I love JP in flood stage.

Agreed, I want to fish it so bad, they wouldn't even let me into Lloyd park to launch my kayak! I think I know of a spot to launch it from though, just have to drag the stupid thing 1000ft first. Either way, I am going to be on that lake this Monday.
