Well...The "Sunny" Fairy tale is over. Got to the lake at daybreak & fished til 1:00 pm. Spent half the morning fishing for sunnies & half for bass. Water temp has plummeted in the past 2 weeks. The last time I went a few weeks back it was around 88-90. Now it is 71-72 degrees! Water level normal pool and pretty clear to around 2 feet. Wind was out of the north 5-8 mph.Caught 8 sunnies & 1 bass. "0" sunnies caught by reed beds or the tree cove where they have been plentiful. All 8 caught out in deeper water I would guess..6-8 feet deep. The 1st one was caught by accident when I cast out as far as I could to get a loop off the spool..so stayed out there & got the 2 in the pics & a few more. I guess they go out to deeper water in the winter ? Some of you experts need to fill me in...(signed...clueless)

Great post and some super slabs. Good job Vogey. thumb

Side Note: I think fish in deeper water bodies may have moved to deeper water. Looks like a dry spell will be starting Thursday. Hopefully will be fishing some creeks. coolio

Rick aka Catyakker saw Mcqueeney yesterday at the west river channel. Stated the bank area is all underwater and the river is muddy and flowing very very FAST! nuts

Side Note: Saw on the News that the Army Corp. of Engineers has four of the six flood gates open on Canyon Lake. Flood gates on Dunlap,Mcqueeney,Placid, and Meadow are all open. eeks

Like Dunlap,Fayette is being very good to you. Always love reading your post and watching your videos. Thanks for sharing.

Side Note: The times I have fished Fayette it seems the BEST TIMES were October and November! I also did pretty good during the winter months. Fayette is a very good bass lake.

Hi, I used to fish this lake a lot about 3 years ago and I have caught sunfish in up to 25-35 fow.the winter has never been good to me in fayette, when they drop the water and stop the plant the water temp. goes down and so do the sunfish. my best days have been in the summer next to reed beds or in deep tree fields. Maybe we can compare notes one of these days I still think there is some really big sunfish lurking in that lake. that being said I still thing there might be another 2 or 3 weeks of good fishing there once the fish kind of settle in their fall patterns

Hope this helps

side note: I went this past sunday and my experience was the same as yours. we caught about 30 sunfish but only 10 big ones and the bites where scattered no concentration of fish anywhere

Rionator...25-30 fow...Holy [censored], that's about 1/4 of my spool of line...or more. For sure there are still plenty of BIG sunfish in there. How do you find sunfish that deep...sonar or trial & error ? Be glad to compare notes anytime, but our experiences in the summer are the same...I have not fished there in the winter.

Normally I use the sonar all the time . I think for fall bigger fish are going to be in deep wooded areas and or deep drop offs. believe me I have caught fish in borne lake which is a deep lake in the summer in 45 fow. those big fish have no fear and no competition from the little ones at those depths. PM any time and we"ll go fishing

Thanks for the report Vogey. I'm so glad I got
to go a couple of times before the pattern change.
Looking forward to getting after them earlier next
year. Maybe in May ??

Time for me to start hunting the topwater boils at Canyon ... smile
