That would probably be a pretty good one to use, but I like the thin pencil type with the spring on bottom.

The smaller, the better so they can't feel it as quick.

It all depends on how deep you want to fish. Spring time shallow water the spring floats work well. Summer/winter deep water you'll want to use a slip float. The deeper you fish the more weight you will need to get your bait down and the bigger the float you will need.

I think it would work fine but if you are going deep you will need a bigger bobber and the rod may be to short for setting the hook.

I prefer a slip bobber with the bobber stoppers that come on the little metal thingies. You may also want a 6.5-7 rod to set the hook considering the amount of
Slack usually in the line.

As long as you are not trying to fish any deeper than the length of your rod that will probably work just fine. But I tried to set up a slip bobber on a reel like that for my son last week fishing in deeper water and the reel did not like the bobber stopper at all. It kept getting hung up in the reel and the line would not come out properly.

Spincast reels and bobber stops don't always work well together. I've found the fine thread bobber stops to work better than the rubber ones on spincast reels.

If that is what you got...it will work. Prior comments, should give you a clue, it is far from an ideal setup. Most of the guys that have answered your post, are like me...they have many different cork options available depending on how deep, daytime/nighttime, wind/wave speed, bait type, etc., that you will be fishing.

Personally, My choice of rod length will depend on whether I am bank fishing, wading, or boat fishing. Further, I will pick a rod that suits the type of overhead brush, casting needs, or other considerations, that have to be factored in. After picking a rod to use, I then use the same considerations to determine which cork to use. Personally, I shy away from the plastic corks, as I have cracked too many to want to use them. Usually, I work to the balsa wood or foam type offerings. My Crappie Rods all have spinning reels on them, but those are just one type reel. The reel you listed is ok for shallow water slip bobber, but not so good for deeper applications, as has already been mentioned.

From my perspective, if that is what you got, go use it, and figure out what works best for you and your type fishing. Looking at your setup, I would use it in the following types of fishing situations...bank fishing a creek where you needed to cast a distance to get to the sweet spot, or fishing under a bridge where you didnt have much room to the bridge, or fishing at a fishing dock (barge). Any rate, hope this information helps.

Just get some thill floats and some bobber stops. A nice big split shot above the barrel swivel and fluorocarbon leader.

make sure you have a long crappie pole. Makes setting the hook easier, plus it will helpwhen you get a huge bass on. I use one of these on slower days while I am actively working a minnow or jig and minnow along a bridge piling. No need to worry about setting the hook fast, as the crappie will slowly sink the bobber and you'll have time to put the rod you are using in a rod holder and catch the crappie. On a side note, the bobber is the ticket for catching those bait stealing perch.

Here is the way I have it now I decided to re rig this with a slotted peg float instead of the ajusta bubble and I changed to a bullet wieght instead of a split shot

Except for the 4'6" ultra light rod, yeah it's a good setup.

Is the length of the rod the problem or is it the thickness ?
