Can anyone offer any advice for running Richland Chambers? THSBA will be out there this Saturday and I have heard many concerns with boat captains that are not familiar with the lake. I don't know if more caution needs to be used with the lake level above full pool. There was a guy that was selling SD cards for Palestine in April and the feedback on them was awesome!! If anyone could offer up something visual that I could share on the THSBA page, that would be awesome!! Just trying to help keep these captains and kids safe.

Richland and Chambers arms are strewn with timber and now you can't see it with the lake up. If there are alot of inexperienced boaters probably be a good idea to cancel the event, gonna be alot of floaters, lake is over pool and still coming up.

Run out the river and creek channels and you will be fine. Get off and it gets dicey. Points on RC run way out toward the middle give them a wide berth.
Where are you launching?

That lake scares the bejesus out of me, no real rhyme or reason to where the timber is... from Oak cove to the dam is pretty wide open, but going up either creek arm is NASTY if you dont know the run. Get out of the channel and your in a bad way real fast, some GIANT stumps out there. I'd tell anyone not familiar with the lake to stay on the dam end. Lake is about 1' high and they are releasing 11,000 CFS with TONS of water still headed to the lake. With that kind of current there will be floating debris all throughout the lake. BE CAREFUL!

Lake is a lot more friendly when it is like 2-3 ft below pool, but still can be dicey then as well

ON THE RICHLAND ARM. THE SOUTH SIDE OF RICHLAND CREEK WAS CLEARED OF ALOT OF TIMBER BY BULLDOZERS. THE NORTH SIDE WAS UNTOUCHED. IT IS FULL OF TIMBER . STILL THEIR ARE ISOLATED TREES AND STUMPS THAT WERE NOT TAKEN DOWN. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I LIVE THERE AND HUNTED IN THAT BOTTOM BEFORE THE LAKE WAS EVER BUILT. WACTHED AS THE LAKE WAS BEING BUILT. BASS FISHED ON IT WHEN IT FIRST FILLED UP.LAKE IS ABOVE NORMAL SO ALOT OF STUFF IS JUST UNDER THE SURFACE. BE CAREFUL.

I don't know where we will be launching for sure, probably Oak Cove. I don't plan on doing much running. I was more or less concerned for a lot of the other kids and captains as I have heard a lot of talk from many that have never run the Lake. I've seen how some of these guys that are new to bass fishing treat a new lake. Many of them think they are safe if they can't see it above the surface. I've been out there 5 or six times, but was never comfortable enough to open it up anywhere but from the 287 bridge to the dam. I was just hoping someone could illustrate some absolutely "clear" paths, if any exist, that I could post on the THSBA facebook page to hopefully help out some of the others that are less knowledgeable out there.

Absolutely agree. That lake causes my pucker factor to skyrocket. No rhyme or reason to where the stuff is at. It can be clear of trees in 10 ft and loaded with them, just under the surface, in 40ft.

We plan on going slow all day we are going to launch at Oak cove. Yep, no harm in idling where you don't know to run like every other lake.

Ya I have no idea how to run most of that lake.
