open to suggestions on surf fishing rods ability to cast for distance..yet still have a decent price tag.....thanks! targeting reds/black tip

Do you intend to use Bait casters or spinning reels? Breakaway tackle makes some nice affordable rods for about $250 a pole. Roys bait & tackle, and Breakaway tackle USA have a good selection you can view on-line.

I've been using the 13' 6-10 oz breakaway surf rod for about a year now and love it. My friends get frustrated with me because I can outcast them. I've caught up to 5' blacktips with it no problem.
