Corn is always consistent. Throw out a few handfuls, then put a couple on a #6 hook and fish right in the pile.

I used to target carp and buffalo back in the 80s and 90s and we used to make our doe bait out of fresh cotton seed meal from the feed mill and some bread. Won many a carp and buffalo rodeos with that stuff down at the Lewisville fishing barge. Lol! They will readily take a piece of corn like carabou said but the cottonseed meal will bring em in like nothing else we used. We used to add all sorts of ingredients like Wheaties, Big Red, vanilla extract, strawberry coolaide etc. but the main ingredient was always fresh cotton seed meal. It carp crack! These days I locate em in 25-30ft on sonar and drop my deep net on em!

Catfish and carp on YouTube has several videos on catching carp. I think the best and most fun way is to go bowfishing. I just shot several carp thanks to recent rains bringing water levels up to where they have have submerged grass beds to get into. Just look for mud flats with vegetation and wont take you long to shoot a few carp.

I cannot lie, my best bait in the whole wide world is Gatos deep hole taped net!!! Hie is better than mine because mine doesnt like being sewed back up! For rod n reel I simply use canned corn

Lol sometimes in the winter Big baits are hard to get and I have to resort to throwing around the bridge columns to get some. You will absolutelly destroy your nets throwing around those things. Lots of snags from all the crappie fisherman but you can usually get big baits off em if your willing to loose a net here or there.

Or you can take the lazy approach like I have in the past and go to the local Asian market and buy some fresh carp and buffalo.

I enjoy the trill of fighting my catfish bait. I was going to make some dough bait a few weeks ago and didn't have all of my items. So i used the following: Wheat bread, syrup, regular crackers (for consistency), and some sweet tea. It caught more fish than I have in years. They LOVED it.
