Before the rains, I was catching catfish from the bank on the Southwest part of the lake.

Went out last weekend, lake has risen a lot from the rains, and we were fishing in a boat. Put out some jugs and fished with rod and reels with fresh shad and dough bait. Spent an hour around the bridge with no bites and nothing on the jugs. Moved to the boathouses off Highland Village road. Drifted from 20 feet down to 10 foot of water and put jugs out as well and got no bites at all. Moved further west over by the camp grounds and again jugs out and drifted 25 down to 10 foot of water and got nothing. We had baits on the bottom and everywhere in between the surface. We normally get at least something around these spots.

We started seeing a ton of surface action. Turned out to be a huge school of gizzard shad. I felt confident in our location but we just couldnt get a bite for nothing.

Sounds like a good day of fishing and not a good day of catching.

It was an awesome day of fishing. Took my 4 year old. He had more fun picking up shad from my net than fishing. He thought we were going to take them home and put them in an aquarium.

Fun stuff watching a kid play with Shad. !!! I have fished all over the lake the last 2 trips at all depths. Caught em in 5ft and 35 ft. We been getting our better fish on main lake ledges. Fished shallow and caught dinks. Been finding bigger gizzard Shad on ledges in 30 ft and that�s where we been seeing bigger fish as well. The fish are everywhere but you gotta go find em cuz they are on the move.

I usually fish Lewisville once a week or so but I will be off the lake until November catching up on honey do list and fishing the Texoma tourney... Lake has started mixing so fishing will be messed up good for the next 3 weeks or so . I�m sure my patterns are blown with all the cool water entering the lake. If you can get up around a little current you can still do ok during turnover. I will see ya out there in November.
