Oh and I was talking to an old man today and he said he had pretty good luck throwing a fluke, thats a bait that I did not try when I was there.

When the lake gets up in the calichie/gravel banks that have t seen water in a while it will be pretty clear.
I remember when it first opened watching fish swim between cactus with yellow blooms still on them the water had risen so fast.
I have great memories of that lake in the early 80s.
South Texas was a geat place to hunt and fish back then, lots have changed.
Thanks, Billy

Yea the fracking certainly wreaked havoc to the area. I haven't been down to Choke Canyon in several years now. But the last few times I went was when the fracking was really ramping up. Amazing the amount of trash on the side of 72. Unfortunately I think the area is permanently scarred from all of that. Now probably a bunch of closed down hotels in the area would be my guess.

Wrong, its going nuts again with the price of oil going back up. No trash yet either, but the roads are rough as hell in places. Edit: it did get pretty slow down there for awhile though, economy is def dependent on oil.

Do you know what fracing is? Most folks dont know. We had it done on my families land a few years ago. Been a nice retirement for my mom and generations to come. My wife doesnt know what it is....and wants to vote against it because of it. Haha. She got a lesson in her financial future that evening. Haha.

An old geezer I was talking to said he was doing good on flukes. Another guy was doing good on a small square bill in the brush. About all the help I can offer.
