I am looking at getting a 18' boat to fit in the garage. Narrowed it down to these two. BassCat Sabre FTD with Pro XS 2 stroke 150 or Skeeter ZX190 with Yamaha SHO 150. Which one would you go with and why? I appreciate you all opinions and look forward to your responses.

I run a basscat and I love the boat, what it comes down to is personal preference. The basscat will be a little faster but have a narrow deck compared to the skeeter. They are both great boats. I would recommend looking at them both in person and decide which one would best suit your needs/ fishing style.

I would argue about Basscat being a better built boat. I have had both and had multiple hull and wiring issues with the Basscat and no issues with my Skeeter.

Basscat is the better built boat, faster and will have a higher price tag generally. Skeeter will have the better ride, better deck layout and engine IMO. It would be a toss up for me if both are equal condition. Also look at the trailers, if the skeeter has a tube trailer the basscat trailer will be far superior, but the new in house skeeter trailers are good I hear.

I'm in a Sabre with a 150 XR6. It runs 55ish fully loaded with another person, with just me, it'll get to 62-63. Had several folks say it handles rough water better than their boat for what that's worth. I won't get out in 30 mph winds either. The front deck is pretty small, I can keep 5 or 6 setups out and not be tripping over them. The rod lockers won't hold a rod over 6.5 feet either. Mine also has double consoles, not sure if I'd do that again, however I'm sure my passengers like it.

The 6'5" rod locker is discouraging. Dealer said up to a 7'6"!

I owned a 2008 Skeeter ZX 190...It was actually equipped with a HDPI 175 and could keep up with my buddies FX21
Surprised me but I was told they made a few with 175's in that year/Make but the next year 150's only
I felt it was a bit "overpowered" at times but never felt really unsafe at top speeds 68-72mph loaded
It was a really fast stable boat...I Don't have much experience with Basscat but a few buddies I know love the ride and build quality...They are both really good boats in my opinion
I would ride in both if I were you and make your decision from there...
For me...Skeeter for life!

The 6'5" rod locker is discouraging. Dealer said up to a 7'6"! Might double check, mine is not an FTD. Could probably fit a longer rod in the tubes further from the gunnel. It's tight in there either way.

2017 BassCat VS 2018 ZX190. Very similar hours BassCat has a few more extras.

I just came out of a Sabre and I really liked it. My only complaint was I should have went with the 175 on it. I went with a bigger BassCat.

Both are good boats, but I'd get the SHO over the Pro XS if it were me!

I have a 190. Great boat. No complaints. The Bass Cat looks arent for me. Yeh, I know its to each his own, but I have to actually look at the boat as well as fish it.
The Skeeter with a 150 is a quick little boat. Mine has an older 4stroke 150. Not an SHO. it runs good enough to keep up with just about all the normal bigger boats. And it will leave all but a few in its wake when similarly powered.
Very stable boats too. Does porpoise a little until you get the hang of trimming it right.
Excellent storage and fully independent live wells is nice. Huge bilge area is big enough for dual tanks, 4 batteries, two chargers, and power pole pumps.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I love my Sabre....never been in that model Skeeter. But I know the Cat is way cooler...and faster.
