Are there any marine shops less than 6 week wait to get repairs completed? Buddy is contemplating opening a state of the art marine service facility so I told him I would survey the best forum online. What is the market like for top notch mechanics? We are east of metroplex in the Greenville area. It takes over a week just to get PM's completed.

Area you`re in makes a lot of difference.
The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything. Remember what He has done and remember that He is not done yet!-- GOD IS GOOD

That's a super loaded question with a lot of different factors contributing to how long the wait is at a particular shop. Usually small owner shops are gonna be less wait. Less overhead and paperwork and process etc etc and the wait is shorter. We're busy and I know buddies at shops similar to us that are busy but we aint even close to 6 weeks out and it doesn't take us nor any buddy of mine I know working to reply in a manner taking over a week.

The biggest thing that holds me back on a simple common maintenance like water pump change is I usually have to order the water pump. I usually tell guys to call me ahead of time and that way they can bring it in when Ive got the part(s) in and they sometimes can even watch me. Timeliness is my biggest key personally but thats just me. Obviously mechanic industry in general is known for long waits.

This is why its so important to purchase your boat from a local dealer. Dealer is going to take care of customers who purchase their boats from them long before others. Yea, you saved some bucks traveling to a dealer 200 miles away, but now you discover the service side.
Plan your PM. Have the servicing dealer put you in line for service and to call you when they're ready to service. You can keep fishing until they're ready.

Ive never had any luck at any of the shops around fork, usually a couple weeks out on a good day.. good work from the ones Ive been to, just takes awhile to get in.. seems to be the norm in the industry..

Biggest problem is finding quality experienced techs! We have been short staffed for sometime now!
Good luck!
