I purchased a car for my step son three years ago and also had his name on the note. We have since given that car to his sister but we just bought his sister a new car and we were wanting to sell the original car. Well, my son wanted to buy it for his girlfriend and.so he got everything set up at the credit.union and I guess they ran a title search and the car came back with a bonded title, and the credit union won't finance the car now. From what I've read, it's not a salvage title, but is there anyways for me to get a blue title so he can buy the car for his girlfriend? When we bought the car at the Toyota dealership in Tyler, they said they bought the car at an auction and it came from New York. It took almost three months just to get tags for it, but not once did they make me aware that it didn't have a clean title. Can I do anything at this point?

Spags can answer any questions you may have about titles.

bonded titles only last for 3 years, after that, you go to the dmv to get it changed to a clean title. this gives a possible prior owner 3 years to try and reclaim it, after that, it's a done deal

Spankyttx is correct. I had one on a truck and I have a clean title now.
