Once this thing gets kicked off with more and more TV coverage more and more non fishermen will start watching this because with the MLF format with lead changes happening and instant updates, it will not be long before the odds makers in Vegas will see their opportunity to start raking in the cash off of this as well. Sport junkies will flock to this and push it to yet another level. Then new non fishing sponsors and marketing groups for the big product guys will want to get in on some of this and this snowball will keep right on rolling and getting larger.
You guys need to look at the big picture, this is going beyond just fishing and it is going to be fast. Who knows, this may even go beyond the individual competition and create teams, team owners and who knows what else. Look at Nascar and what they did from where they started. I am sure that not every fan or viewer races cars. All of their sponsors are not just from the automotive industry. Now there's something for you to ponder.

Yes, lots of potential.
I'd suggest a North vs South Team event or maybe a Ryder Cup type event with USA vs Japan.

For years ESPN owned BASS and could not get it to the levels you are describing. That's a goal I'm sure; but reel it in a little. Outdoor Network does not have the reach or resources to put together what ESPN did. Even with JMorris.
Bass fishing is a regional sport and then a niche even in those regions. IMO, it will never capture the non-bass fishing audience (let alone the non-fishing audience) in the manner you describe.
We hear all this talk about how great it is going to be before they even host or broadcast a single event. Talking is easy but the execution is all that matters. Lets wait and see.

Nothing will change. Fishing on tv is boring. Plain and simple.

Impossible sport to film live therefore I doubt Vegas would want to take bets for tournaments that are televised after the fact. No way is a non fisherman choosing to watch it. Its the new kid on the block and in time will be just as boring as the others.

If they broadcast live on TV lets just say for 1 hour, youll probably only see 20 minutes of it due to commercials. Just my .02 cents

For tv, lets say they live film 3 hours, they might only get 10 minutes worth of footage to broadcast.

I agree with the latter posts. MLF is NEVER gonna be a mass appeal sport. Robot fighting and drone racing (yeh...it exists), will make MLF tv ratings look like a drop in the bucket.
Face it...bass fishing tourneys are really only cool to us TFF folks. ...and then its only cool to a portion of us.
Add nausea to the MLF format, and its even worse. Hokey and lame.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

Lots of naysayers. Why not wait and see? Regardless it is a progressive move for bass fishing.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Lots of naysayers. Why not wait and see? Regardless it is a progressive move for bass fishing. We aren't discussing whether or not it will progress the sport (having MLF). It is more about watching it on tv and the general consensus is that people aren't gonna be setting their clock by when it comes on.

The guys bashing it will be sitting on their moms couch wearing their tourney jersey watching it live on their ipad. Don't let them fool you.
