Seems like ages since I've been out there chasing Blues, but I was able to get out on the water yesterday at about 4:30. I searched and searched for shallow fish and just couldn't find them. Everything on my sonar was showing bait and fish holding in mid depths. I gave up looking for shallow fish and caught my first fish in 22 FOW while drifting. Put a few more in the boat on a couple drifts in other areas, but none were big. Did a lot of scouting and moving around and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Water temp was 79.5 in the middle of the lake.

I didn't stick around for it, but I am certain that fish would have moved up shallow at dark and I could have had some better results if I had done some searching in the same areas once the sun went down.

Seemed more like summer fishing than fall.

Saw pretty much the same thing on Lewisville Sunday. Lots of looking but Only fishable pattern I found was on a leeward ledge in 26ft. Floodgates were wide open and fish and bait were either broken up into very small groups or completely scattered. I marked lots of small cats shallow but never saw anything good so I kept moving. I was able to find one other good group that was next to a hump on a 37 ft deep flat suspended about 7-8 ft off the bottom. There was about 5ft of thermocline and the fish were all mixed in with the bait so I kept moving. Not sure about your lake but as long as my lakes floodgates are open the fishing will suffer...ima go anyway cuz sometimes you get lucky!!! texas
