I've never fished The Vine. Trying to break in other area lakes. Lew was chocolate on Thursday. Just plan covering a lot of water and junk fishing. Looking at the map coming from Frisco, was thinking Katies boat ramp.

Anyone have any advice hit me up. Also, if you will be out there, I will be happy to share notes.

Went out on Lewisville Friday about 7:45. Got one in the first hour. Then the wind kicked in so I moved around a lot to calmer water. Caught a couple more small ones. About 1:30 it calmed down a bit. Thought about calling it quits and headed back towards Tower Bay. Gave It one more try in the cove close to Sneaky Petes. Caught another dink or two. Made my way back as far as I could until it was only 5-6 feet. Threw a cast, got bit, set the hook, and thought I snagged stick ups. My line started moving, the the water swirled and blew up so I set the hook again. When it surfaced again I realized it was probably my largest bass ever. (Maybe 7+)? Got it up to the boat but didnt have a net. I knelt down to lip the fish. Its mouth was huge. My hand was just a few inches from my prize catch when it jumped and spit the hook. Even though I lost it, it still made my day.

Just as good as a landing, just no picture. Made a good ending to the day.

Lewisville was good to me this weekend. The flooding doesn't help but you can find them out there.

I went to Grapevine last week and did ok. Water was 81 degrees, 1 foot high and it was overcast all day. I pitched flooded brush and managed a few dinks but no size at all. I also tried fluke and a frog but only caught 1 on each. I felt I was trying to force the shallow bite so I moved away from the flooded brush and bank beating. My biggest fish came at the lower end of the lake with deep water near by (weightless and chatterbait). Water was slightly stained but not too bad. I would focus on topwater early, weightless, spinnerbait and swim jigs.

I did end up catching 2 smallies this trip. One was 3 pounds and the other was a dink.
