Anyone know what the big land project is that is near the Wise County Park? Are they building something or is it just material excavation?

A giant quarry....rumor has it the lease has been there for 20-30 years. It is part of the Whitehead Ranch.

The ranch goes from WCP to the north shore of the lake.
It is for sale and some of it has been sold. There will be some waterfront development at some point.

Lease has not been in place. Heirs going against their wishes and causing a riff. One of the prettiest pieces of land in the county being destroyed.

It is truly sad to me. That place had such a mystique about it growing up on the lake. Miles of untouched shoreline and now it looks like the other [censored] up by the road. I hope they take the time to develop the shoreline appropriately and do it justice. So many opportunities to improve the quality of the area and lake.
