Looking to try LL. I have only been to the barge and it was very long time ago. Want to take some friends new to fishing and bank fish. Some amenities like restrooms, patio shade would be nice/preferred. Any suggestions? With all the rain two weeks ago, I don't want to go to a park that is tore up and have these guys get real muddy or not be able to sit and enjoy the scene. Catfish is what we are after.... Any ideas on parks or locations that would be easy to get to for these guys? Someone out there must knows this lake fairly well to help me. No honey holes just somewhere that has potential right now for these guys. Going this Saturday.
Thank you,

I have seen some really big blue cats reeled in from the barge.Backside, main lake channel on live bait. Plus this location would be best for your buddies to keep them out of the mud and the ability to be in the shade.

Arrowhead park has easy access, and the amenities you are looking for. Not sure how the catfish are there. West lake park is another option. If you get adventurous you can hike out on the old dam and fish the cut

Catfishing there sucks. I have gone fishing there for cats at least 15 times with fresh shad and caught 2 fish. They were on the same trip.

I didn't mention it because of the hike and the lack of any facilities.

have these guys get real muddy or not be able to sit and enjoy the scene. Catfish is what we are after.... thank you, Something we've done with smaller kids is have them fishing on the barge for brim. Then use the brim for catfish bait. If they get bored, have them catch more brim to take home, freeze and use for bait later. Kids will have more fun and stay involved if they are catching something, and they can see the brim come up and hit a little piece of worm or whatever.
Enough of this idle chit-chat. This ain't no retirement home. EVERYONE! Get back to your oars. The Captain wants to waterski.
