thanks for tha information folks but after lookin' at 'em I jus can't make myself go with ford... yeah, i'm onena "those guys"...…. you are just a guy with some sense. I am waiting see how the new Ford diesel does. Won't be surprised if is not like other early versions of Ford motors like the 5.4 and EcoBursts. How long you going to wait, it's been round since 2011? I'm on my second one, a 2011 and my current 2015 F450. My next truck will be another Ford diesel. The 6.0 is fine if the right stuff has been done to it, I've got one of this also.

6.0 is a POS. Everyone says "if you bulletproof, it's bad [censored].." I
I buy a truck to run good out of the box, not drop $4,000 into it just to make it reliable.
Be a man.. Get a Duramax with an Allison transmission. 2004.5-newer...
Last time I checked, the U.S military doesn't use "TorqueShift" in their tanks and special vehicles.. They sir run Allison transmissions. Just like that dump truck or tour bus you passed on the road today.....
Powerstrokes are made in Mexico and had too many bad years, Cummins doesn't have a transmission worth a [censored] to get the power to the wheels and their body falls apart, the Duramax is built in Moraine, Ohio USA and the Allison transmission is bombproof and built in Baltimore, Maryland. The best year Duramax you can get is 2006-2007 with the LBZ. But you will pay for it. As long as it's a 2004.5 or newer you'll be fine. 2001-2004 Duramax had too many injector problems.
Be a man.. Be an American. Get yourself a Duramax/Allison powertrain

If it's going to sitting parked most of the time why would you even consider a diesel? The only advantages to a diesel is the fuel economy and power. They are made for the long haul and expensive to maintain. Also, unless you're hauling a really heavy load there's no advantage to dual wheels....come tire buying time you will have 6 of them to replace. I live on a horse farm and have a dually (gas) and 3/4 ton (diesel). If it wasn't for the heavy loads I pull I'd have a 1/2 ton gas burner. Just something to consider.
To whom much is given, much is required.

I had rather have tha big gas motor (which I've 'bout decided ta wait till one comes around) but just ta let ya know I know tha GM (never ford) diesel dually well ('specially tha early LB7/LLY injector farce).. last one was LBZ that I had excellent service from.. I've had a 4 of em over tha years and put many, many miles on 'em.. I've traveled all over tha country (work) pulln' tongue pull and fifth wheel TT's (my choice instead of flea bag joints I know nothing about) so I do know what its all about.. not goin' inta this blind other than tha ford part... mileage, tires, reasons to buy, reasons not to buy does not concern me 'cause there is this... I don't have ta justify or be practical... I like drivin' a loaded out dually...

Didn't mean to come off as a know it all but your original post sounded like you were new to trucks. Evidently not...lol. The Ford 6.2 gas engine is tough enough. That's what I have in my dually. I've had 454's in the past and it's just as stout and get's better milage. Good luck in your search.

Love the 6.0 PSD, drive two of them, one studded and one not. They're great if you know the right mechanic. I can steer you to one.
