was running across the lake and blew a powerhead. what are the next steps for a blown powerhead? at least two of the cylinders had damage to them, I don't have a ton of money sitting around and I'm wondering what my next step should be. Motor is a 1996 Mercury EFI 150

fix it or possibly buy a used motor and sell the blown motor.

option 1 is to have it rebuilt or get a reman powerhead w warranty option 2 is buy a used motor an have the same result in a month or 2. those are not good options but that is what happens sometimes on motors that are over 10 yrs old.

I was thinking about rebuilding my 225 efi merc a few years ago and you could get a brand new powerhead from Mercury for just a little more than a rebuild. These were all brand new factory powerheads.. Thats what I would check on..
